When you are on stage the spotlight they shine on you reveals every aspect of your physical appearance. The downside is that the brighter the spotlight, the more flaws are revealed. God's Word is very much like that spotlight except that His Word is brighter than the sun, revealing the truth of one's self to one's self.
But a spotlight has a greater purpose. When pointed in the right direction it exposes that which has been shrouded in darkness. It brings to light things that have been hiding even the deepest darkest corners.
I spent many years playing music on stage for an audience I could not see except when they would turn up the house lights, or even better when they would turn the spotlight on the audience. Today I see that spotlight as a metaphor inwardly for reflection and outwardly for revelation. That is both the purpose and reason for starting this site and sharing with you a series of articles, essays, or if you prefer, musings.
This site, LETTERS TO MY CHILDREN is intended to reflect my innermost thoughts, observations, insights and ideas in the hope that revelation, if any, inspires others to be something other than the sum of their mistakes. It is my goal to be a follower of Jesus Christ reflecting the quality of His character.

I dedicate this site to my five children, fourteen grandchildren, a fifteenth grandchild who did not live to see the light of a first day, to all of my family who come after my days have ended, and indeed to ALL of God's children. May you read and understand what mattered more than any act, good or bad, that I ever committed.
